Our Mission

"Alleviate hunger & its root causes"

Seeing an area of growth in the Fruit Valley community, Clark County Food Bank and its partners established Community Kitchen- a direct food distribution program serving our neighbors in Fruit Valley. In 2019, need arose in the Walnut Grove neighborhood. Clark County Food Bank built a second food pantry location to meet this need.

Aligning with Clark County Food Bank, Community Kitchen has a two-part mission: to alleviate hunger and, to go one step further, to alleviate the root causes of hunger.

Alleviating hunger is the direct service of providing food resources to those in need in our community. Since March 2016, we distributed over 1.62 million pounds of food to neighbors in Fruit Valley and Walnut Grove through our shopping style food pantries.

Alleviating the root causes of hunger includes providing nutrition education to teach families how to shop on a budget, grow their own food, and cook nutritious meals with all the new skills they learned. Root cause work also includes partnering with other community-minded organizations that provide financial literacy, skills training, as well as other social services in order to empower and provide our neighbors with the resources and tools they need to succeed.

Our Partners

Our mission to alleviate hunger & its root causes is not possible without the support and involvement of our community partners. Below are snapshots of organizations who currently partner with Community Kitchen to provide food, skills training, nutrition classes, and more to our Fruit Valley neighbors.

We are always looking for new areas of growth and services to offer to those in our community. Have an idea on how you and your organization can partner alongside Community Kitchen? Contact us as we welcome all thoughts and conversations!
